This week we experimented with different designs for 4 wheel drive vehicles to get over the dynamometer. The challenge of 4 wheel drive lies in the gearing of the wheels and making point and swing turns. Also, team #1735 has a track vehicle (great design Michael!). Here is the assignment:

1. Which is better - wheels or tracks? Explain why.

2. How are you going to work turns with a wheeled or track vehicle?

The first practice with the course went well. Both teams are working on how to pick up the FLL hoops. What do you think is the best way to retrieve these hoops? What type of attachment should you build?

Also - we started the research project this week. What is the biggest transportation problem we have in Paulding County and Atlanta? Come up with some creative answers!

The Robot Game and Research Project information has been released! What do you think of the missions? What strategies will the teams employ to earn points? What type of robot do the teams need to build?

As for the research project - start brainstorming about all the different types of transportation we have in Paulding County. Our first step is to make a list of all the ways people and goods travel in our local area.

Greetings! Now that you have had a chance to hear “Peter and the Wolf,” I want you to think about the characters in the story. The composer, Prokofiev, assigned each character in the story a particular instrument and a musical theme.

For example:

Bird Flute
Duck Oboe
Cat Clarinet
Grandfather Bassoon
Wolf French Horns
Hunters Timpani and Bass Drum
Peter String Instruments

In this blog, I want you to pick one character from the story and explain to me why you think Prokofiev chose a certain instrument for that character. You can also describe the character’s theme and how it relates to their personality.
