Nebo ASP Technology Program

Greetings!

The Nebo Fine Arts ASP Technology Program meets in several sessions during the week:

1. ASP Broadcast and Technology Club: Meets on Thursdays and Fridays during ASP from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.  This group is open to 4th and 5th Grade students.

Students in ASP Technology will learn how to create games, simulations, and animations using programming software such as Scratch, Alice, and Python.  In addition students in ASP Technology will work with HTML editors to create and publish web pages.  Technology students will also work with building and programming Lego Mindstorms NXT robots.   This club is open to 4th or 5th grade students.  Mr. Michaud will assign students to Thursday or Friday depending upon experience. 

Students in Broadcast and Technology club will learn how to set up and operate video and sound equipment in the Nebo Television Studio.  In addition, students will learn how to give news broadcasts on Nebo Network News during the morning announcements.  Students will learn to use Microsoft Office and OpenOffice to create and communicate through digital media.  Students will learn the basic elements of graphic design and produce animated films, create web pages, and create other digital media. 

The ultimate goal of the both the Technology and the Broadcast Club is for students to be fluent in using digital media to create and communicate with others. 

Because the ASP Technology and Broadcast Club are part of Nebo ASP, students must stay in ASP on the days they have Broadcast or Technology Club.  Parents must inform homeroom teachers on that students need to go to ASP.  Parents must also follow Nebo ASP procedures and pick up students in the front lobby of Nebo.  ASP currently charges $6.00 per day.  Nebo ASP policies for further information on cost.

 Students wanting to be in ASP Technology or Broadcast Club must fill out and return this form to Mr. Michaud.

_____________________________________(Student Name) has my permission to participate in ASP Fine Arts Technology Program.  I understand that I must register my child for ASP and pay necessary ASP fees for this program.  I also understand I must inform my child’s homeroom teacher that my child will stay in ASP on the days of Broadcast and/or Technology Club.  Parent signature indicates consent for above child to be photographed and/or videotaped while in rehearsals or broadcasts and authorizes use of these pictures without charge for publicity purposes related to the promotion of the Nebo Fine Arts Program.  I also release Nebo Elementary School from all claims of any interest of any kind of image on behalf of both the undersigned and the child named above.
