Planet PowerPoint Project:

Objective:  Make a one slide presentation featuring facts about one planet in our Solar System.

Basic Skills:
S4E2 Students will model the position and motion of the earth in the solar system and will explain the role of relative position and motion in determining sequence of the phases of the moon.
a. Explain the day/night cycle of the earth using a model.
b. Explain the sequence of the phases of the moon.
c. Demonstrate the revolution of the earth around the sun and the earth’s tilt to explain the seasonal changes.
d. Demonstrate the relative size and order from the sun of the planets in the solar system.

1. Choose a Planet:
Mercury
Venus
Mars
Jupiter
Saturn
Uranus
Neptune
Pluto

2. Research on Internet following facts on Planet (Start at this wesite: )

Write these facts in your notebook.

a. Size (Diameter) (In Miles)

b. Mass

c. Atmosphere -> What gasses are around the planet?

d. Distance from Sun

e. Length of Year (in Earth Years or Days)


3. Start Open Office.

4. Select File->New->Presentation

5. Create a One Slide Presentation about your planet. Use Text and Graphic Layout.

6. Save to your file area with the file name "Lastname Planet"
