Food Web Project
Standards:
S4L1 Students will describe the roles of organisms and the flow of
energy within an ecosystem.
a. Identify the roles of producers, consumers, and decomposers
in a community.
b. Demonstrate the flow of energy through a food web/food chain
beginning with sunlight and including producers, consumers, and
decomposers.

1. Draw a Food Web in the box below. Remember, energy
starts at the Sun and then travels to the Producer. You will need
to have the following:
-Sun
-Producer
-Consumer
-Predator
Example: Sun -> Flower -> Rabbit -> Hawk
2. Use arrows to indicate flow of energy in this Food Web System
3. Start Scratch (Click the Cat Icon)
4. Select File -> Save
5. Double Click Your Grade
6. Double Click Your Teacher
7. Double Click Your Name
8. Name your File: "Lastname Food Web"
9. Click "OK"
10. Click the Scissors and Delete the Cat
11. Use the "New Sprite" icons and draw or select your Sprites for the
Food Web. Make sure to name each Sprite. Here is the Sun
for an example.
12. Here is a sample of the Sun's Two costumes and the Scripts
for the Sun:
13. Create the rest of the Sprites in the System. Here is
an example with all the Sprites:
14. Create an Sprite representing the Energy in the System.
15. Use the Scripts to have the Energy Sprite move from the Sun
to the Producer, Consumer, and Predator. You may use other
scripts to have the Sprites "Act Out" the energy transfer. Here
are some sample scripts for the Energy Sprite.
