Unique Scratch Fact: The Scratch
program runs in a very different way
than traditional programs such as Word or Excel. Scratch runs on
something called a "Virtual Machine." This "Virtual Machine" is a
simulated computer within a computer. When you run "Scratch" you
are
running the program inside the "Squeak" image. (I am not making
this
up!) The result is that the visual environment looks somewhat
different than Windows XP. The advantage of "Virtual Machines" is that
Scratch can run on several different types of computers (Macintosh,
Windows, Linux) and still have the same look and feel. |
