Tech Lesson 04-5: I Ate What???

Directions:

1. Write down what you would eat at McDonald's for one meal (Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner)

2. Go to this website:

3.  Write down the Calorie amounts for the foods you listed in your notebook.  Your list should look something like this: (You will most likely have more food listed than I do!)

 Cheeseburger:  300 Calories Small French Fries:  230 Calories Diet Coke: 0 Calories

4.  Start Open Office

5. Click File->New->Spreadsheet and start a Spreadsheet document.

6.  In the Cell A1: Type "I Ate What?"

7.  In Cell A2, Type "Food"

8.  In Cell A3, start typing your food list.  Put all the foods in the A Column.

9.  In Cell B2, type "Calories."

10. In Cell B3, start typing the Calorie count you wrote down.

11. Use the Sum took to calculate the total.

Your Spreadsheet should look something like this:

 A B C 1 Food Calories 2 Cheeseburger 300 3 Small French Fries 230 4 Diet Coke 0 5 Total 530

12.  Go to google.com or nettrekker.com and try to find out how many calories a 9, 10, or 11 year old needs in one day.

13.  Compare this to your McDonalds meal.  What happens if you eat 3 times a day at McDonalds?

14.  Save your Spreadsheet in your file area as "Lastname McDonalds."
