ASP Technology Students to Present at the Georgia Educator's Technology Convention on Wednesday, November 14th!

Students from Nebo Elementary will represent Nebo and Paulding County at the Georgia Educator's Technology Convention in Atlanta on Wednesday, November 14th.  Nebo students will participate in a student technology showcase where they will present their Scratch Programming Projects.

Scratch is a tile-based visual programming language for multimedia projects and games created by the MIT learning lab. Nebo Elementary students will demonstrate games and simulations they created to tell stories, create educational games, and demonstrate understanding of language arts and math GPS standards. Students began by writing a narrative for their game that introduced the characters, setting, problem, and solution.   Through the creation of these games on Scratch, the students will demonstrate how to translate elements of story, character, setting, and action into mathematical expressions and programming logic. Nebo students will also teach participants how to create simple simulations and games using the Scratch platform.

The following students will represent Nebo at the Georgia Educator's Technology Conference:

5th Grade:
Shannon Crawford
Tabatha Horton
Austin Verhine
Tristan Cole
Llogan Clark
Jessa Ward

Alston Rives

4th Grade:

The Nebo Elementary Department of Fine Arts seeks to equip students with the tools of music, movement, and technology understanding so students will think artistically, express themselves, and share in the artistic expressions of others.

The Nebo Elementary School Department of Fine Arts provides classroom music for students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade.  In addition, the Fine Arts program provides after school activities in Drama, Dance, Chorus, Violin, and Technology.

We strive to teach students to not simply consume media, rather, to create and share media with the world around them.

Scratch is available as a free download from www.scratch.mit.edu.  Scratch works on both Windows and Macintosh platforms.  Email Mr. Michaud for instructions on how to install Scratch on Linux.
